Imagine:  It is Thanksgiving morning, 15 people are coming to your house for dinner, and you haven’t put the turkey in the oven yet.  Not only that, but you have no idea how to cook a turkey.  What do you do?  Why, you call the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line to speak with a Turkey Talk-Line expert who will guide you through the process.  Thank goodness for those experts – they understand the urgency of your questions, they know turkeys inside and out, and they will make you feel like it’s as easy as apple pie (I could use a hotline for those too) to complete the task.

I think of Sobe Nzelibe as Interfolio’s version of the Turkey Talk-Line expert.  No, she may not be able to help you cook a turkey, but she’ll happily walk you through any kind of academic application issue or document upload problem with a smile on her face.  Her patience and knowledge is just what you need when you are ready to throw your computer out the window, or your deadline has passed and you’re in a jam.

Meet “the voice of Interfolio”

sobe nzelibe customer experience representative interfolio letters

Sobe was born in Nigeria.  She moved with her family to the DC area when she was 8-years old, graduated from Washington & Lee University, and headed to Ghana, West Africa with the Peace Corps.  She joined Interfolio in 2006 and has been helping our members ever since.

Sobe loves the outdoors and in her off hours, you’ll find her cycling around the DC Metro area, doing Capoeira  (Brazilian Martial Arts), hiking, or participating in activities related to her passion for sustainable development in Africa or environmental issues.

I sat down with Sobe to ask her a few questions about her life at Interfolio thus far.

What are some of the most memorable conversations that you have had with Interfolio members?

I've had situations where conversation about an Interfolio member turns to the Peace Corps.  Also, I’ve been told that I need to check in with the SOBE drink company for taking my name!

Why are you always so calm, friendly and patient?

I guess I'm friendly by nature and like talking to people.  My current obsession with Capoeira does seem to add an extra bit of positive energy to my life.

What is the most interesting request that you have received?

I was asked to be a go-between for an applicant and his three recommendation writers.  All three needed to insert their signature electronically into one letter! It took a lot of follow-up, patience, and coordination but in the end, the applicant was happy with how quickly the issue was resolved so that he could meet his deadline.

What would you like people to know about Interfolio?

No matter how stressed you are, there is someone who genuinely wants to help with your application process. We are not just a software company that deals with peoples’ credentials, but we are individuals who care about the company and the success of our users.  We understand that there is a lot involved in processing an application and meeting deadlines, and we want to make it easy as possible.

What would you do if someone called asking for help making a turkey?

I would ask what kind of turkey he/she likes (deep fried, baked, grilled, etc.), whether he/she likes it with stuffing, and the preferred flavor.  I’d also ask if he/she's talking about a whole turkey or just a particular portion.  I would then give my recommendation and provide URLs that might have other recipes relating to his or her taste.
