Or why should you record video of your lectures in the first place?  Well, for one, they're the best visual demonstrations of your teaching skills and your ability to communicate your knowledge effectively.

So why not display them more publicly?  We briefly highlighted Alltop's Academic Earth before.  It is "an organization founded with the goal of giving everyone on earth access to a world class education".

There are now many sites like this with the primary goal of increasing access to education, and it highlights how well video works as a medium of communication, as well as how it conveys your capabilities as an educator.

With the capabilities of digital media, you are now able to take that great video you've got of your sociology lecture and upload it to a site like this that offers educational resources to people around the world.

In many cases, your lecture materials are submitted for review, and a select number of presentations are chosen to showcase from the pile of submissions.  Wouldn't it be great to point to one of your own that made the cut?
