My areas are philosophy of law and ethics (broadly concieved).  I'm currently juggling three projects.  I'm finishing a mongraph book on which I've been working for several years.  As its title -- Promise, Obligation, Agreement -- suggests, it has three largely independent parts.  The other project is a study of so-called expressive theories of discrimination, theories that evaluate discrimination (i.e. its propriety) by what it expresses or means.  I seek to accommodate the insights of these theories within a broadly consequentialist normative framework.  The third project is my unfinished business of putting justice in its place: a study of the relation between (various areas of) law and (various kinds of) justice.
