Beavercreek Christian Learning Center (BCLC)
Philosophy and Purpose
Our Learning Center is viewed as an extension of the child's family. We provide a pleasant, secure environment for the children in our care.
Our commitment to a child care program began in 1985. It grew out of a sincere love for children and a desire to provide a service to the families of this community.
Preschool & Pre-K Program
For children 2 1/2 through 4 years of age, we offer a full child care program which includes preschool training. The preschool hours are 8:30-12:30 a.m. During this time, the children will be involved in a more structured atmosphere. They will participate in activities designed to enhance their social skills along with the knowledge of phonics, math, science, and social studies as well as working to strengthen their large and small motor skills.

Teacher Experience at BCLC
I have been employed at BCLC for the past 3 summers while attending Miami University during the school year. I have worked two summers as a teacher in a Pre-K classroom and last summer I was a teacher in a Preschool classroom. The position required lesson plans to be created, implemented, and evaluated weekly. The center promoted creativity, hands-on, inquiry-based activities. During the summer, children were to play outside as frequently as possible. Children were to have the opportunity to learn through play and to engage in all subject areas especially math and science. The best tools, strategies, and techniques I recieved from working at BCLC would have to be in classroom management. The Early Childhood Program at Miami University does not give enough instruction or opportunity for its students to gain experience in classroom management and these summer positions helped to fill that void in my education. Experience in handling relationships with parents would also have to be a benefit I gained from these positions. Learning how to communicate with parents and keep them involved in their child's education will be a focus of mine, especially as a first-year teacher.
