    Thesis: "Alternative Brisbane Masculinities"

    Queensland University of Technology student Penelope Ann Holliday completed her M.A. thesis, "Alternative Brisbane Masculinities: Fictional Representations within Recent Brisbane Narratives," in 2008. In Chapter One of this thesis, Holliday quotes extensively from an article I wrote, "Regional Literature and 'the Liminal': Exploring the Spaces In-between National and International Literatures," in order to enhance her analysis of the "development of Austalian literary regions."     Script & Print is the title of a scholarly journal published by the Bibliographical Society of Australia and New Zealand (BSANZ). This entry on the Script & Print blog asks readers with a knowledge of bibliographical presses to help with an article that the editor of this journal commissioned me to write.     Research grant: University of Technology Sydney

    The University of Technology Sydney and ABC Radio joined forces for a research project about contemporary Australian writing made possible by a $150,000 grant from the Copyright Agency Limited. In an article publicizing the the project, one of the principal researchers, Dr. Catherine Cole, quotes from an article I wrote for Australian Author magazine. My article, "Media Neglects its Responsibilities to Oz Lit," was published in 2007. Visit Website go

    Fulbright Postgraduate Award media profile

    I was awarded a Fulbright Postgraduate Award, which instigated my relocation from New York City to Perth, Western Australia, in July 2005. I was given this award on the basis of a proposal to study the production of a regional literature in Western Australia, with an eye towards the contributions of publishing houses located outside traditional book publishing centers to the formation of a regional identity.
