Planning my own wedding gave me several opportunities to flex my design muscles, and often in ways outside my typical job description. This page highlights some images of the results.
I chose a "cherry blossom" or sakura theme for our wedding, with colors inspired by them: chocolate brown and pale pink. Since Adam and I grew up in the D.C. area, we both enjoy Japanese culture, and the Sakura is an omen of good fortune, it made a perfect wedding theme.
I was a cake decorator before I was a UI designer, so naturally I had very strong opinions of what I wanted my cake to look like. I found a photo of an elite NY cake studio design that I loved, and created a simplified sketch that would fit my wedding size and budget. The baker did a fantastic job interpreting it, and the result is below.
Sadly, cherry blossoms weren't an option for my flowers because they aren't typically available as cut flowers. So I chose calla lillies and orchids for their elegance, resilience, and availability in my desired colors!
