Undergraduate Advisor (Academic and Career Advising)

My current position is Undergraduate Advisor at Cornell University in the School of Hotel Administration. The School of Hotel Administration is an Ivy League professional program focusing on business applications in the hospitality industry and teaching hospitality leadership. In my position, I wear two hats: academic advising and career advising. As academic advisor, I assist students with their choice of classes, academic resources, assist faculty with their advising, perform degree audits, and advise students who are on academic warning. As career advisor, I offer career advice, assist students with their internships/summer job and full-time job searches, critique resumes and cover letters, provide mock interviews, provide planning and programing of various workshops, and assist with various events such as career fairs. Additionally, I analyze the job placement statistics and produce final reports for publication and on the Web. I also sit on two Cornell University Career Services committees: Employer Relations Committee and Tech Committee. My over 14 years of higher education experience consists of admissions and student services at small (1100 students; Manchester College, N. Manchester, Indiana) and mid-size (6,000 students; Ithaca College, Ithaca, New York) colleges, and a large university (over 18,000 students; Cornell University, Ithaca, New York).

My passion outside of work is trail running. I started running over 22 years ago while in college and have discovered trail running since moving to the Ithaca area nearly 7 years ago. I also enjoy traveling and I seek trail and road races wherever I go.
