Prairie View A&M University announces partnership with Faculty Information System Interfolio to support faculty during recruitment, review, promotion, and activity reporting

PRAIRIE VIEW, TX — November 5, 2020 — Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) today announced the launch of a new digital platform to provide responsive support to faculty during every stage of their careers. Through a partnership with Interfolio, creator of the leading Faculty Information System, current and prospective faculty can now use a single, online platform—built specifically for faculty—for recruitment, promotion, and reporting processes. In turn, administrators will gain new insights into the faculty experience to understand faculty activity and responsibilities.

“We are in the midst of a digitization effort to replace legacy processes on our campus, and we realized there was a major opportunity to design a process for faculty career advancement that was made easier—and more intuitive—with digital technology,” said Dr. James Palmer, Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs at Prairie View A&M University. “Faculty are at the heart of our institution—through the work they do as educators, scholars, and leaders. This work is about tapping the potential of technology to support faculty career growth and acknowledge the countless acts of great teaching, research, and service that happen on campus every day.”

As the latest university to adopt Interfolio’s Faculty Information System, PVAMU faculty and job applicants can easily complete and share essential documents, apply for tenure, and submit letters of recommendation. Faculty and administrators responsible for reviewing applicants and promotion candidates’ materials can seamlessly review these documents whenever and wherever they want, streamlining the review process. With the Interfolio platform, hiring and review workflows can be customized to fit the specific processes of each department.

All PVAMU departments will also have access to Interfolio’s Faculty Activity Reporting module, which will allow easy curation of research accomplishments and other scholarly activity as faculty prepare for the review process, gather information for grant proposals, and share their accomplishments with administrators and their peers. With an intuitive interface and integration with other platforms, Interfolio makes it as easy as possible for faculty members to input their data.

Additionally, PVAMU faculty and administrators will, for the first time, have access to data reflecting the full career progression and activity from faculty from across the institution. With a hub of verified data, administrators can provide faculty with greater transparency into the review and promotion process to build trust in these key career decisions. Faculty members can also use the data to gain new insights into the research interests of their peers and more easily identify opportunities for collaboration.

“It is critical for the university to systematically collect the research and scholarly activities and outcomes to measure the impact, and demonstrate the new knowledge creation of our faculty to the broader community,” said Dr. Magesh Rajan, Vice President for Research and Innovation at Prairie View A&M University. “The new digital infrastructure, Interfolio, will enhance information gathering, effective data analytics, and gaining new insights on a broad range of research and scholarly contributions by our faculty.”

“As the faculty role continues to evolve with their scholarly contributions being strategically imperative to the success of higher education, institutions are finding it necessary to invest  in modern technologies to advance and streamline historically manual processes that act as impediments to their faculty,” said Andrew Rosen, CEO of Interfolio. “We are proud to be working with Prairie View A&M who clearly recognize how critical it is to support their faculty for the advancement of the institution.”
