WASHINGTON, D.C., JULY 24, 2018—The University of Florida, a leading public research institution, has selected Interfolio, a pioneer in faculty-focused higher education technology, to support the university’s “Faculty 500” initiative to hire 500 new faculty members—200 of those by this fall.  Stakeholders involved in the decision chose Interfolio due to its ability to streamline and support the University of Florida’s hiring goals while meeting the distinct needs of academic institutions.

“We were trying to provide better support for our faculty hiring processes and determined that the Interfolio Faculty Search solution was uniquely qualified,” said Melissa Curry, Director of Recruitment and Staffing at the University of Florida. “It became apparent that Interfolio was right for us when we realized that hiring faculty is different from other hiring processes. Interfolio Faculty Search was built for hiring faculty and for providing efficiencies and ease of use for faculty participating in the search process. Faculty are not opposed to electronic systems, they’re opposed to electronic systems that make their lives more difficult. Talking to them and understanding their needs and how we could make their lives easier in the hiring process were key for us selecting the Interfolio Faculty Search solution.”

The Faculty Search module is part of the Interfolio Faculty Information System, the first technology platform in higher education dedicated to facilitating faculty engagement throughout the entire faculty lifecycle. In adopting Interfolio, the University of Florida joins several other Florida public universities in using the Interfolio Faculty Information System to support aspects of faculty information management, including hiring, workflow, and faculty activity reporting.

“The University of Florida’s ‘Faculty 500’ initiative shows tremendous vision, leadership and commitment to the mission-critical aspects of a university that will pay huge dividends for students and society,” said Andrew Rosen, CEO, Interfolio. “We are very excited to be selected to support this initiative. The partnership shows that the University of Florida believes strategic change in higher education comes by investing in faculty.”
