As the year comes to a close, we’re reflecting on the highlights from 2023—and what we’re looking forward to in 2024. This year, we saw academic leaders prioritizing strategic impact, seeking out solutions they needed to help achieve institutional goals. As we enter 2024, we’re excited to see how these leaders will continue with these efforts while elevating the great work their faculty are doing.
Here at Interfolio, we’re thrilled to partner with existing and new clients to play a small part in showcasing their strategic impact. 2023 was a stellar year, and we truly enjoyed connecting with academic leaders at various events, highlighting client stories and their unique expertise, creating and sharing insightful resources, and using this input to continue to make the Interfolio Faculty Information System (FIS) even more valuable. In case you missed anything, here’s a highlight reel from the year.
Great to See You!
Throughout 2023, we traveled to 17 events in 10 different states plus one province in Canada, meeting with more than 12,200 attendees! We loved connecting with our current partners and meeting new leaders who wanted to learn more about how Interfolio supports every stage of the faculty lifecycle.
In addition, 2023 saw the return of our in-person Interfolio Summit event. We gathered with 175 clients from 84 unique institutions in Washington, D.C., to talk about the latest topics in higher education, share exciting product developments, and hear a powerful keynote from Freeman A. Hrabowski, III, President Emeritus of UMBC. In addition, 24 client presenters lent their expertise to help guide their fellow academic leaders looking to resolve similar challenges. We so appreciate this gathering of thought leaders, and we can’t wait for next year’s event!
In case you missed it, University Business spoke with Dr. Joanna Brooks, Associate Vice President for Faculty Advancement and Student Success at San Diego State University, and Interfolio CEO Andrew Rosen about the event.
Interfolio Clients Share Successes and Expertise
Several institutions highlighted ways they use Interfolio to solve challenges and achieve their goals in case studies. You can read about how the Medical University of South Carolina uses Interfolio as a single, reliable source of truth about faculty activities, as well as how Scripps Research powers web profiles and faculty hiring with Interfolio. We also heard from global partners, with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia discussing their need for technology to support recruitment efforts in order to achieve ambitious growth goals, along with how Kuwait University’s College of Engineering and Petroleum empowered faculty and increased transparency by automating academic evaluation processes.
This fall, we launched our Academic Leader Series, bringing the voices of impactful leaders in higher education to our blog. Kicking off the series, Dr. Joanna Brooks from San Diego State University offered her thoughts on the importance of fostering an institutional culture of faculty support. Next, Dr. Patricia Williams Dockery from Morgan State University shared why having a humanistic approach is essential for higher education leaders. Rounding out the year, Dr. M. Francyne Huckaby from Texas Christian University detailed how the institution uses Interfolio to enhance workload equity for faculty. We look forward to continuing this series and hearing what other leaders have to say in 2024—be sure to follow us on LinkedIn for updates!

Enabling Strategic Impact
This year, we focused our product development efforts around equity, efficiency, and impact. To further support equitable hiring, we launched advanced EEO/diversity reporting within Interfolio Faculty Search. With this functionality, EEO officers and administrators can easily monitor and visualize the demographics of hiring pools at every stage.
Additionally, we’re excited about how Interfolio supports the full faculty lifecycle with Faculty Search, Interfolio Lifecycle Management, and Interfolio Review, Promotion & Tenure. After hiring a new faculty member, their appointment details and professional milestones are created in a centralized faculty roster for your institution. When it’s time for a review, cases can be created from this roster and checked by the reviewing committee with ease. This holistic approach to faculty work minimizes administrator—and faculty—time, improving the overall user experience.
