WHU – Otto Beisheim School partners with Interfolio to support strategic goals

VALLENDAR, GERMANY — December 1, 2020 — WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, ranked the best German business school by the Financial Times, today announced the adoption of new technology for their faculty hiring. Faculty Search, one of the modules of Interfolio’s Faculty Information System, will streamline manual, time-consuming processes.

This new software makes the recruitment process a more efficient and positive experience for both the job candidate and the selection committee. Additionally, for the committee members, Interfolio’s Faculty Search gives more visibility into all aspects of the search, and it enables better communication among the committee.

“Our School is growing rapidly, and recruitment of faculty has to keep pace. Our dated, time-consuming process was no longer sustainable. We needed a platform that could support our growth in a professional and efficient way,” stated Cindy Berdou, Project Manager, Dean’s Office at WHU. “Interfolio ensures we have timely, consistent, and equitable recruitment practices.”

WHU’s digitalization of recruitment will allow them to track how applicants heard about positions. Additionally, diversity data will be centralized in one platform, allowing for more frequent and accurate reporting. With the integrations offered, WHU can also connect their Faculty Search module to other systems of record.

“Interfolio’s platform enables top international business institutions like WHU to scale and grow—meeting their strategic goals—by removing inefficient, burdensome processes,” states Andrew Rosen, CEO of Interfolio. “We’re pleased to welcome WHU as one of our leading global partners.”

Prairie View A&M University announces partnership with Faculty Information System Interfolio to support faculty during recruitment, review, promotion, and activity reporting

PRAIRIE VIEW, TX — November 5, 2020 — Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) today announced the launch of a new digital platform to provide responsive support to faculty during every stage of their careers. Through a partnership with Interfolio, creator of the leading Faculty Information System, current and prospective faculty can now use a single, online platform—built specifically for faculty—for recruitment, promotion, and reporting processes. In turn, administrators will gain new insights into the faculty experience to understand faculty activity and responsibilities.

“We are in the midst of a digitization effort to replace legacy processes on our campus, and we realized there was a major opportunity to design a process for faculty career advancement that was made easier—and more intuitive—with digital technology,” said Dr. James Palmer, Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs at Prairie View A&M University. “Faculty are at the heart of our institution—through the work they do as educators, scholars, and leaders. This work is about tapping the potential of technology to support faculty career growth and acknowledge the countless acts of great teaching, research, and service that happen on campus every day.”

As the latest university to adopt Interfolio’s Faculty Information System, PVAMU faculty and job applicants can easily complete and share essential documents, apply for tenure, and submit letters of recommendation. Faculty and administrators responsible for reviewing applicants and promotion candidates’ materials can seamlessly review these documents whenever and wherever they want, streamlining the review process. With the Interfolio platform, hiring and review workflows can be customized to fit the specific processes of each department.

All PVAMU departments will also have access to Interfolio’s Faculty Activity Reporting module, which will allow easy curation of research accomplishments and other scholarly activity as faculty prepare for the review process, gather information for grant proposals, and share their accomplishments with administrators and their peers. With an intuitive interface and integration with other platforms, Interfolio makes it as easy as possible for faculty members to input their data.

Additionally, PVAMU faculty and administrators will, for the first time, have access to data reflecting the full career progression and activity from faculty from across the institution. With a hub of verified data, administrators can provide faculty with greater transparency into the review and promotion process to build trust in these key career decisions. Faculty members can also use the data to gain new insights into the research interests of their peers and more easily identify opportunities for collaboration.

“It is critical for the university to systematically collect the research and scholarly activities and outcomes to measure the impact, and demonstrate the new knowledge creation of our faculty to the broader community,” said Dr. Magesh Rajan, Vice President for Research and Innovation at Prairie View A&M University. “The new digital infrastructure, Interfolio, will enhance information gathering, effective data analytics, and gaining new insights on a broad range of research and scholarly contributions by our faculty.”

“As the faculty role continues to evolve with their scholarly contributions being strategically imperative to the success of higher education, institutions are finding it necessary to invest  in modern technologies to advance and streamline historically manual processes that act as impediments to their faculty,” said Andrew Rosen, CEO of Interfolio. “We are proud to be working with Prairie View A&M who clearly recognize how critical it is to support their faculty for the advancement of the institution.”

Washington, DC — October 21, 2020 — Interfolio, creator of the leading Faculty Information System, announced today a new agreement with Maryland’s preeminent public urban research university—Morgan State University—to launch a new platform to provide a centralized resource to more effectively recognize and review faculty impact on campus. Through the partnership, Interfolio will assist Morgan faculty with directly showcasing their scholarly stories—encompassing teaching, research and service—with peers and administrators. Administrators will now be able to access comprehensive validated data about faculty achievements to inform annual reviews, career development, and strategic decisions.

Interfolio Data Service enables universities and colleges to realize full impact of academic data

WASHINGTON, D.C. — September 28, 2020 — Interfolio, pioneer of the Faculty Information System used by universities and colleges worldwide, today announced the release of the Interfolio Data Service (IDS), its newest offering that provides faculty and administrators with a streamlined way to import, validate, and make actionable their faculty’s scholarly contributions.

Interfolio’s experience with higher education scholars and administrators over the past 20 years has revealed ongoing inefficiencies and burdens placed on institutions around this process. IDS provides a holistic solution and decreases the high administrative load for faculty and staff. Used in combination with its market-leading Faculty Activity Reporting, IDS retrieves scholarly data from an ever-expanding set of multi-disciplinary sources representing over 230 million citations and 60,000 journals.

IDS enables its clients to take full advantage of established sources of scholarly data. The data service handles the complex processing and preparation of multiple independent data sources into a single feed—which is deduplicated and matched to specific faculty through machine learning algorithms. Within the platform, faculty can easily review and validate each record before it is saved to their ongoing faculty profile. This validation capability allows faculty to claim records as their own, creating trustworthy data for the scholar and the institution.

With its regular ingestion of data, IDS enables ongoing accuracy and maintenance of faculty records, and by extension, faculty profiles—for past, current, and future scholarship. This process stands in contrast to other methods like CV parsing or manual data loads, which leads to quickly outdated information. IDS keeps the data accurate as faculty members keep producing new research and publications.

“As one of the nation’s leading research universities, we continuously ask ourselves ‘how can we better support our faculty?'” states Paul Welty, Associate Vice Provost for Academic Innovation and Faculty Affairs, at Emory University. “Given the importance of our faculty’s research output and worldwide impact, we want to offer an improved, streamlined way for how scholarship is entered and audited in our faculty activity reporting system and how it populates faculty profiles in order to help further amplify and showcase their great scholarly contributions.”

With its place within the Faculty Information System, IDS offers distinctive value for faculty, allowing data to be used within profiles of Faculty Activity Reporting, powering CVs, accreditation reports, and institutional storytelling. Additionally, with the integration between the Interfolio Faculty Activity Reporting and Interfolio Review, Promotion, and Tenure modules, the data from IDS can be used for faculty evaluations. This actionability of the data creates value for faculty to validate and approve the data, as it populates their activity reports and reviews.

“Scholarly data—coupled with the ability to harness the power of its significance—is the foundation of the Faculty Information System. The Interfolio Data Service, with its groundbreaking validation of federated and disambiguated data, centers faculty scholarship,” states Andrew Rosen, CEO of Interfolio. “The Data Service represents our continued evolution of the Faculty Information System as a platform and demonstrates our commitment to focusing on faculty and digitally streamlining historically arduous tasks.”

The Interfolio Data Service is now available as part of Interfolio’s Faculty Information System platform. For more information, visit www.interfolio.com.

Partnership with Interfolio will transform faculty career management, improving efficiency and collaboration

WHITTIER, CALIFORNIA — SEPTEMBER 16, 2020 — Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU), a premier evidence-based integrative healthcare university, today announces its adoption of all four modules of Interfolio’s Faculty Information System. With this digital approach to its faculty processes, SCU deepens its commitment and support of the faculty experience while also improving efficiency for the university at large.

“Our faculty are the heart of what makes us successful, and we knew we could better support them while improving academic management processes,” states Dr. Jonathon Egan, Assistant Provost, Academic Administration at SCU. “The Faculty Information System solves our challenges with faculty appraisals, reporting, and data, while at the same time increasing trust and collaboration with faculty.”

With this platform, SCU is able to manage faculty members’ career pathways and create a centralized faculty roster noting location, rank, and skills, a task which previously required manual compilation by academic affairs staff.

Faculty appraisals, portfolio reviews, and faculty promotion will become fully digital—making a previous cumbersome process more efficient for both the faculty members and administrators. Additionally, SCU will streamline reporting for accreditation and compliance through Interfolio Faculty Activity Reporting. Last, faculty hiring will be facilitated through Faculty Search, to help SCU continue to attract the best possible faculty from the region, the nation, and around the world.

“With the adoption of all four modules, SCU is realizing the full advantages of faculty-centric and administratively-streamlined modern academic governance,” states Andrew Rosen, CEO of Interfolio. “Interfolio’s platform enables SCU to digitize difficult manual processes while better supporting and enhancing the user experience across the entire lifecycle of their faculty’s careers—further promoting what’s truly important to SCU: educating students as competent, caring, and successful integrative healthcare practitioners and professionals.”

Leading institution teams with Interfolio to support all stages of the academic journey

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — September 9, 2020 — DePaul University, ranked among the nation’s most innovative schools by U.S. News & World Report in 2019, announces today its expansion of faculty technology with Interfolio, creator of the Faculty Information System. With the addition of Interfolio Lifecycle Management to its portfolio, DePaul further supports its faculty with a platform for hiring, review and promotion, activity reporting, and academic appointments.

With the Lifecycle Management module, DePaul gains a professional system of record for its faculty members’ academic appointments, workloads, and professional review timelines. This central faculty affairs technology gives administrators a secure, trusted source to inform decision-making and budget planning.

“Many existing enterprise systems are not designed for higher education. Interfolio stands apart because of its focus on faculty,” says Alyssa Kupka, Chief of Staff and Senior Associate Vice President at DePaul. “Adopting Lifecycle Management is the last piece in completing our faculty technology ecosystem. Now, our academic data will be organized in Interfolio for all of our major processes rather than inconsistently located across a variety of systems.”

This past year, DePaul launched faculty hiring and promotion and tenure cases with Interfolio. In addition to streamlining administrative time, these systems allow DePaul to ensure faculty processes align with the institution’s core values of diversity and social justice. For example, all EEO reporting on faculty job applicants will run through the Faculty Search module in the fall, and activity reporting will track diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) faculty work, which can also feed into review cycles. “The flexibility of Interfolio to meet our institutional goals has been critical to its adoption and buy-in on campus,” says Kupka.

“DePaul University immediately understood the vision of the Faculty Information System and how it would be transformational for their campus. With the addition of Lifecycle Management, DePaul realizes this vision, bolstering future institutional success with this investment in faculty,” states Andrew Rosen, CEO of Interfolio.

Leading HBCU announces partnership with Faculty Information System creator Interfolio

ELIZABETH CITY, NORTH CAROLINA — AUGUST 24, 2020 — Elizabeth City State University (ECSU), ranked in 2020 by U.S. News and World Report as the #3 top public school in the Regional College South, today announced its adoption of new technology to manage its academic appointments, reviews, and promotions.

In partnering with Interfolio, creator of the Faculty Information System, ECSU will digitize its current paper-based processes for faculty promotions, annual reviews of full-time and adjunct faculty, and post-tenure reviews. Faculty will be able to compile and submit materials online, and committee members will be able to review all of the appropriate materials online, enabling business continuity during remote work. Centralized tracking and reporting of these processes also supports ECSU’s accreditation requirements.

Additionally, Interfolio Lifecycle Management will enable ECSU to manage scholar’s career journeys, including academic appointments and exceptions that might impact timing of various milestones. The management of faculty careers becomes more transparent and easier to track with this digital platform.

“The timing is right for these types of changes. The global pandemic, in a way, projected us into the future and identified where we want the institution and faculty work to go. I see very little paper looking five years down the road,” states Dr. Farrah Ward, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Elizabeth City State University. “ECSU is excited about the long-term impact of our investment in faculty career management.”

The modernization of these processes increases efficiency and ease for faculty, which was a key goal for ECSU. Access to data is improved, facilitating various types of reporting.

“Interfolio champions the valuable contributions of faculty. Our leading Faculty Information System allows faculty to tell their own scholarly story at each important milestone of their careers,” states Andrew Rosen, CEO of Interfolio. “We are pleased to support ECSU and their forward-looking vision for their campus and faculty.”

Melbourne’s RMIT partners with Interfolio to digitise its academic promotion and reporting framework

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA — SEPTEMBER 2, 2020 — RMIT University today announced its investment in technology to support academic development and recognition. By partnering with Interfolio, the creator of the leading Faculty Information System (FIS), RMIT further bolsters its support of its over 2,000 academic staff members.

The partnership, spearheaded by Interfolio’s Oceania services and support partner Edalex, culminates a multi-year process led by RMIT leadership to refine and standardise the expectations and processes around academic promotion. The technology from Interfolio will allow RMIT to realise the full potential of the new framework by providing a platform to evidence academic achievements and research outcomes. Additionally, it will streamline the logistics of the annual review process reducing the significant administrative work of both individual faculty and faculty committee members.

“At RMIT, we realize that our academic staff are our most important resource. As such, we have been proactively assessing how we can support all academics to develop and progress at our institution,” says Marilyn Capper, Director, Academic Development and Workforce Transformation. “Our partnership with Interfolio allows us to evidence the important contributions of our academics over the entire staff lifecycle, allowing a more accessible, customised and equitable promotion process for all our staff, irrespective of academic discipline, job role, or professional focus.”

A key component that RMIT considered when transitioning to a digital platform was the ability for each academic to tell their unique story. Additionally, RMIT required integrations with existing platforms, especially Workday, its system of record for payroll and employment status for its 6,000 employees. RMIT will also use Interfolio to provide reporting for external compliance needs, including national regulatory audits, with data around academic progression, development, and credentialing.

“True teamwork between RMIT, Interfolio and Edalex delivered an innovative solution under aggressive timelines,” states Dan McFadyen, Managing Director of Edalex. “With this technology, RMIT now has a system to support its academic staff and their career development. As a company dedicated to extracting hidden value from educational data to make it accessible and more meaningful, we were pleased to work alongside Interfolio to realize the full potential of its faculty-centric platform at RMIT.”

Andrew Rosen, Interfolio CEO, expands: “Our focus has always been on streamlining and digitizing the complex processes involved in shared governance and peer review to ease the administrative burdens on administrators and academic staff, while empowering scholars to showcase their significant academic contributions in ways to tell their best story. By deploying Interfolio’s modern academic information system to the benefit of its academic constituencies, RMIT joins its leading peers across global higher education in modernizing its approach to accomplishing its academic mission.”
